the moment we have all been waiting for...

Ya know, it may surprise you for me to say that it has been kind of difficult to find the time to write this blog……

Baby Isaac is finally here though! Woohoo!

Isaac Ian joined our ‘little’ family on Friday, December 10th at 7:31 p.m. after a very VERY short 1.5 hour labor. He weighed in at 7 pounds 10 ounces, and measured a long 19.5 inches. Everythng went well with his delivery. It was amazing to be able to hold him immediately and kiss his little head. Labor was intense and definitely something I will never do again, but I was so SO lucky to have Ian and my doula Sarah there to help me through it. My midwife couldn’t have been a greater guy. Minus the pain, it was truly a wonderful birth, and I wouldn’t change a thing.

Recovery so far has been a rough road. Through the first night at the hospital, I had horrible post-partum contractions and the medication they were giving me for them didn’t make it into my system for some reason until the next day, hitting me all at once. I basically suffered a drug overdose and spent a miserable Saturday morning and afternoon puking and sleeping, unable to hold or care for my new baby. Luckily my mother and an amazing nursing staff were there to help me while Ian was gone. So, after that of course I couldn't really take much for pain, so getting through those first few days was pretty miserable. Good thing I had such a cute baby to look at!! All seems to be falling into place now that we are home though.

Sam and Elliott are just loving their new baby brother. I was sure Sam would be very jealous, but so far he seems pretty indifferent but interested, especially when Isaac is crying. Elliott tells me constantly how much he loves and cares for his new baby brother. Isaac is one lucky little brother.

(does Isaac look slightly terrified?)
We are now just working on adjusting to all these bodies in the house and getting all their needs met while still trying to meet our own. Ian returns to work tomorrow, and though I am a little worried, I am sure we will survive. I surely am blessed to have had him home these few days. I couldn’t ask for a better father to my little boys, and a better husband for me.

Christmas is only a week away. CRAZY! We still have a lot to do, and it should be interesting trying to get it all done in these next few days. After that are Elliott and Sam’s birthdays….. busy BUSY days ahead.
Well, Happy Holidays everyone. I hope this season truly is bright. There is definitely a lot of love and happiness in our little home.

(he is so so sooo kissable!)
